Ted Fravel, Alicia Healey, Ken Sek, Shawn Murdzek

1. & 2.  Call to order and Roll Call:  Meeting started at 6PM

3. Opportunity for Residents to Speak:  Shawn Murdzek told us how his idea to build bridges was not feasible because it is in a flood plain.  He is working on other plans.

It was mentioned that there are dedicated volunteers that clear the trails during the summer.  They are from the Hockanum River Linear Trail committee.

Ken mentioned about how he had heard of a group thinking about making Bird houses and placards identifying different  plants along the river.

4.   Approved minutes of  December 7, 2011 meeting.
5.  Old Business
  • Canoe and Kayak Race Report  - Read the report from Paula about the race and also heard that the  race followup was at Roma’s Pizza and had 4-5 people in attendance.
  • Tire and Bus Removal Project - Talked about the Tire Rollout at which point half had been removed.
Talked about ideas for removal of the bus down on the Hockanum River property.  One idea was to write to the Mayor to see if she could help and maybe get a towing contractor.

Other ideas were to get a generator and a metal saw so the damage to the area would be less severe than a towing vehicle would cause.  A gator could be used but it wouldn’t  be able to go on the boardwalk because the boardwalk is damaged.  Possible to get to the bus from Old Roberts Street.

6. Finding funds for projects - Calendar – Peter said Christine should come to the next Rotary meeting to request money for making a Hockanum River calendar as they may be able to grant it from the proceeds of their very successful Duck Race.

7.  New Business - The money for the EZ Dock /Boat Launch on the pond  by the Chipper Drive entrance will be given by the Rotary.  Thank  you  Rotary.

Source to Sea cleanup launch meeting on June 26th at Goodwin College  6 - 7:30 pm.

Stacy talked about the Poison Ivy was making cleanup efforts difficult.

Peter showed us the video of the duck race.

8. Adjournment - The meeting was adjourned at 7:30.
